Travel Feature | Exploring Spain

While visiting family in Spain, Cat took a trip to Orbaneja del Castillo, a tiny mountain village in northern Spain that feels like something straight out of a fairytale.

Surrounded by dramatic limestone cliffs, the village is famous for its beautiful waterfalls and caves. Water flows right through the heart of town, cascading down the mountainside and creating a picture-perfect backdrop around the old stone buildings. The village is built into the hillside, with narrow cobblestone streets, stairs, and plenty of paths to explore.

One of the highlights is exploring the area around the Cueva del Agua, where the water emerges from the cave before making its way through the village. After lots of walking, Cat discovered the perfect place to relax: a delicious mountainside spot tucked away and easy to miss, serving tapas and Tinto de Verano.

Orbaneja del Castillo is small, but the Spanish village has a lot to see!
